Dear Friends and Neighbors,

May 11 marks the end of the COVID-19 public emergency measures in our Commonwealth and country. In Massachusetts, we mourned the death of more than 20,000 residents. And while certain actions related to emergency measures may cease, an understanding of a worldwide pandemic and its impact on physical health, short-term and long-term social, emotional, and mental health are still being revealed.

At each stage of the pandemic, we found that communication was the greatest tool. Through my office and staff, we have kept constituents updated on state and local actions from the very day the state of emergency was declared through daily COVID-19 updates, transitioning to the twice-weekly Tuesday/Thursday Report, and publishing weekly Fresh Garlick newsletters once the state of emergency ended on June 15, 2021. Looking back at the last three years, we have released:

  • 92 Daily Covid Updates
  • 117 Tuesday/Thursday Reports
  • 125 Weekly Fresh Garlick Newsletters

We are moving forward in this new chapter, communication will include a monthly update titled the “Garlick Press”. Weekly, we will continue to share “community happenings” that strengthen our sense of working, playing, and learning together as neighbors. As always, please visit the Massachusetts Legislature website for legislation updates, briefings, and budget information.

My website will continue to serve as a resource for all. The website has been updated to include the most up-to-date content and additional resources for constituents and my new role as the House Chair of the Joint Committee on Education.

As always, please feel free to contact my office if I can be of any assistance to you.

We are stronger together!

Yours in Service,

Denise
