Committee to hear testimony on health and human services agencies

NEEDHAM, MA – On Monday, March 9, 2020, the Joint Committee on Ways and Means will hold a public hearing on the Fiscal Year 2021 (FY21) budget in Needham, focusing on health and human services agencies. Representative Denise Garlick, Vice Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, will chair the hearing alongside Senator Mike Rush.

“The budget is a collaborative process that involves every member of the legislature as we craft a budget to invest in programs that support every Commonwealth resident,” said Representative Denise Garlick. The state’s health and human services programs have a great impact here in Needham, where we focus on public health prevention, as well as across Massachusetts, where nearly 1 in 4 residents’ lives are improved through state programs.”

“The budget process in Massachusetts is an in-depth progression of hearings, data gathering and outreach and I am pleased that in this budget cycle we are able to bring this process to Needham,” said Senator Mike Rush.  “I look forward to co-chairing this important hearing with Representative Garlick centered around programs and funding of health and human services.”
